I label this one a rental.unless you're a BIG Rugrats fan and want some more memorabilia.The other characters depicted in Rugrats include the babies' parents, who are portrayed as often being easily distracted, leaving their young children free to emancipate themselves from restraints such as playpens or strollers and venture out to explore. I suppose this would be fine if the game had a decent camera and a better feel. But then the game ends up being more of a novelty item than an actual video game-just another poster or window sticker.
I suppose it's fun to control Chuckie or Tommy or one of the other 'rats around their house and in other locations, finding puzzle pieces and doing various activities if you're a Rugrats fanatic. So here's the question I have: If this game is geared toward 7- and 8-year-olds, what 7- and 8-year-old likes a camera that's as dumb as a horse, and control as loose and sloppy as.well, you get the idea. Fair enough, but a solid game is a solid game no matter who it's geared toward. I should note: THQ is aiming this game at kids-which is why many of the minigames and levels this title consists of are so easy, and why the graphics are so simple-looking. Sure, it features some of the same humor and situations from the show, but I've found Rugrats to be more fun to watch than to play. Well, unfortunately the game isn't like this. Rugrats is one of those cartoons that is made for kids but appeals to people of all ages because of the jokes thrown in and its originality.
